The "Red Fused Petiole" flytrap cultivar, developed by Kamil Pasek of Best Carnivorous Plants (BCP) in the Czech Republic, is a unique plant known for its deep red coloration and a leaf base that fuses to the trap, unlike typical flytraps. This cultivar's striking red hues can even turn nearly purple in late summer. However, it is a slow-growing and less vigorous plant, possibly due to the red anthocyanins in the foliage, which may reduce its photosynthetic efficiency. This is a common issue for most 'all red' varieties. Despite its growth challenges, the "red fused petiole" is an officially registered cultivar with the International Carnivorous Plant Society (ICPS).
