The "Purple Flame" cultivar is a unique and rare find, with its large size, short triangular teeth, and deep red mouths that darken to near purple in strong lights. The serrations on the trap margins change and become more complex as the growing season progresses. This giant variety was selected from a batch of seed grown flytraps by an unknown grower around 2014 in the United States. The coloration of this flytrap can even extend beyond the interior of the traps, giving them a purple lip as well. Despite its vigorous growth, only a few of these flytraps were sold, making it a one-of-a-kind find. When I look at this plant it makes me wonder what would happen if B52 or African Werewolf meets FTS Purple Ambush.
